I’ve gotten the top of my quilt along doll quilt from Lori’s quilt along finished, but not quilted.
I changed the color scheme from blue, cheddar, red and shirting white to browns, warm pink, cheddar and cream shirtings. These colors will go better in the room I’ll use the quilt in, but now the name Midnight Stars doesn’t make any sense?
I wasn’t able to find the name of this block. I found one that was very similar in Maggie Malone’s Quilt Block Designs book called Eddystone Light., but it’s not exact.
I need a name that suits my quilt better. I’m open to suggestions, if you have any ideas?
It might be a while until I can this cutie quilted because I have a rush order for a baby quilt that’s to be given at a shower on March 6.
While I had my scrap bin out and had some time to play I pieced a little log cabin variation. I saw a quilt on someone’s blog around Christmas time with a split center log cabin block. It really grabbed my attention and I jotted down a few notes, along with the name of the blog I saw it on.
I did some cleaning up here and somehow misplaced or threw out my notes. I’m pretty sure I got it wrong? I think the logs have to be 1/2 the size of the center square?
If this looks familiar to you, please let me know who’s blog I saw it on, so I can give them credit?
I believe she called a Split Rail Variation?
Hey, your doll quilt is gorgeous! I struggle with quilt names too, so i”m no help. The colors really sparkle!
Nice way to use up your scraps. You really can’t go wrong on the split rail block.
Love your little quilt version, and my suggestion is “Licorice All Sorts,” a candy that my husband and I just love. Your log cabin quilt is darling too!
How about Stars at Dusk since the colors are lighter than midnight. Beautiful!!!!
I was a bit partial to the Midnight Stars version but this is really pretty too :0) Sorry, I’m horrible with names. I looked in my Barbara Brackman book and couldn’t find this block…..I may have to do more searching, my curiosity is piqued LOL.

Hi Ann! Oh the perfection of your tiny star quilt has me gasping with envy, lol! It is adorable. And so exact. (I am still laboring over my version, gotta brush up on my skills, I can see that!).
I love your color combination too.
What came to mind when I saw it was Sunflowers and Strawberries, apropos of nothing…or Desert Rose (tho I know you are not in the SW area.)
a little treasure!
love

Your quilt along quilt looks great Ann – your colors are fun. Naming is hard isn’t it? It’s really cute.
Love your little LC too – nice variation.
Wow! This is amazing. Your version is made in a colorway I really love. I’d go with something like “Indian Summer” myself. It reminds me of my youth growing up out west is how I pulled that.
Lovely little quilt…. How about “Chocolate Drops” your other blocks are really nice too… You have been busy..
I love your version of Lori’s quiltalong quilt. I like that you made 12 blocks – I was thinking about it but decided I didn’t want to have to figure out the new cutting amounts :0) (how lazy am I?) I’m no good at naming thigs either – looks like others have made some good suggestions.
I like your log cabin variation quilt as well. The 2 quilts will look great together. Looks like you have been having fun!
These quilts are both spectacular, Ann! I have two mini quilts in progress, one is a doll quilt size, and I took all the leftover triangles from that one to make a second, smaller quilt. Maybe this will inspire me to get back to those! I also have that Maggie Malone book, it’s a great reference. Even if you got your log cabin variation ‘wrong’, it still looks beautiful! Wonderful precision, I know it’s not easy to match all these tiny pieces and multiple points!
Ah, a different colorway. Nice choices.
Great colorway! Seems totally unique for a doll quilt and looks very antiquey. You did a beautiful job as always.
Very beautiful version. Hugs from France
Thank you for the linkage. You did a very nice job with your quilt. I’m slaving away on mine in between a myriad of other projects. I’m up to 6 blocks! But I do have dozens more cut out so that counts for progress right?
